Full of compassion,
Loving life to the fullest…

Darryn John Benjamin full of compassion, loving life to the fullest, age 25, was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on January 2, 1994 to John & Sheron Benjamin. He returned to his heavenly home on August 10, 2019.

Darryn Benjamin began his musical journey at the age of four he was making music on pots and pans believing he was playing the drums. Noticing his passion and love to play the drums and worshipping God, he was presented a regular drum set as his birthday gift when he turned five.

He quickly became a young talented drummer and musician, often serving at his home church. He was involved at Victory Church in Tulsa playing on the kids worship band and though he was just a young boy, he also started playing for the adult worship team, where he had a passion for serving Jesus throughout his life.

Victory Church was his second home, and he was also entrusted with the keys to the church facilities at a very young age. His maturity as a young boy was beyond his years. He graduated high school in 2012 from Victory Christian School and thereafter attended Oral Roberts University, where he faithfully completed three semesters. Darryn had a passion for learning and excelled in school (obtaining many awards and recognitions), and desired to complete his college education. He even expressed this desire and dream on the eve of his home going to heaven.

He was a mighty servant of the Lord and was a member of Victory Church since his birth. His enthusiasm for serving the Lord and worship was evident at the young age of five, when he began playing the drums on the Victory Kidz Worship Team. He worked in the Audio Visual Department as an A/V Tech, where he utilized his talents within various ministries, including the bus ministry, to impact as many as 2,700 young children every Saturday for several years from in and around Tulsa.

Heart Poured Out

Darryn poured out his heart as a worshipper by playing drums for Victory Church, ORU's worship team, various outreach ministries, etc. He also participated by going on many Mission Trips to Kansas, Texas, Missouri, Australia, and several church camps. He loved serving with others and cherished his fellowship with them.

He was inherently joyful and optimistic. He tried to see the best in everyone he came across. His smile spoke volumes to those he encountered. He very often gave the “two thumbs up” gesture, indicating that everything was good, and it would only get better. He was faithful, committed, and reliable. He was very eager to help and found a way to accomplish much, regardless of challenges. He had a “can do” attitude and a heart of worship. In any worship environment he found a way to raise his hands and worship God. One of his favorite scripture was 1 Peter 2:24. He truly let the Holy Spirit move through him.

Dealing with the challenges of today requires problem-solvers who bring different perspectives and are willing to take risks and to never give up under any circumstance. Darryn J Benjamin Foundation emerged out of an earthly loss but heavenly gain to inspire and support the children and youth of this world, and a desire for actions to speak louder than words.

Darryn was simple but genuine in all his ways. He displayed humility always putting others before himself. He was never self-seeking but always seeking ways to help, to serve and give of himself joyfully. Everything he did, he did out of a "wanting-to-do" attitude, not a "do-to-get" attitude.

He thought of people who nobody cared for, and cared for people who everybody ignored. He did not speak much, but what he said, he meant. A very genuine person. A bad word or a negative thought was not a part of him. Humble and kind was his nature.

He always gave..with love
He always smiled..for everyone needs one
He always helped..when he saw a need
The love of Jesus exuberated even when he did not say a word.

Darryn had some favorite scriptures. Jeremiah 29:11 was one of them and it says…For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11  New King James Version)
